Go-To Spring Weekend Activity: Farmer's Market (Tips & Tricks)

We're spoiled in Los Angeles.

We never really have a winter (or fall, for that matter). But spring...ah, spring is incredible here. The LA air is crisp (for a change), the birds are chirping, it's all of the fairytale stuff and more.

One of our absolute favorite things to do on the weekends is hit up every farmer's market in town. It's a magical place. Fresh produce, people walking and mingling, vendors giving away samples (yes, please!)

Here are some of our tips & tricks to get through your farmer's market trip like a seasoned veteran:

  1. Bring your own bags  |  It's important to bring some big market totes, as well as some produce bags. The less plastic, always the better. We really love these mesh produce bags: Click here
  2. Start a conversation  |  I know this may seem obvious, but in Los Angeles this is a feat in and of itself. Talk to people! Talk to the farmer's about what their best picks are that weekend & talk to the shoppers about what goodies they've found along the way. It makes the experience that much more fun.
  3. Seasonality  |  This is a big one and should also apply to your everyday grocery shopping. Buy what's in season. We can't stress this enough. It tastes better, it's better for the environment, it's better for you.
